Democrats for Equality,
Yesterday, we sent out a call-to-action e-mail for the two special elections next Tuesday (May 12th).
If you would like to help out with some calls or texts to voters to help elect Elizabeth Romero in State Senate District 28, and/or Christy Smith in Congressional District 25, we added all the volunteer links to our website here.
I want to thank everyone who participated in our special Zoom check-in meeting last weekend.
All things considered it was quite successful, and I want to thank our Senate President pro Tempore Toni Atkins and Assemblymember Todd Gloria for providing us a statewide update on the COVID-19 crisis.
Also, thank you to Coastal Commission Chair and Chula Vista Councilmember Steve Padilla for giving us his time to provide a personal perspective on the pandemic. It was a little emotional hearing everything he experienced and went through, but we are so thankful that he’s okay and recovering!
And of course another thank you to Carlsbad Councilmember Cori Schumacher for administering the oath of office to our newly elected executive board!
Finally, let this e-mail serve as notice that we will be conducting another Zoom meeting for our next club meeting on Thursday, May 21st.
The meeting will start at 6:30pm, but if you are able to log on earlier, we will have the Zoom open and ready at 6:00pm so we can credential and check-in all of our voting members and guests.
First, we will consider 3 post-primary, non-controversial endorsements on consent:
- Terra Lawson-Remer for County Supervisor District 3
- Sabrina Bazzo for San Diego Unified District A
- Kate Schwartz for State Assembly District 75
Then, we will conduct two endorsement considerations for National City City Council and San Diego Unified District E.
Once we have the Zoom meeting link and call-in information we will send that out.
Looking forward to seeing/hearing from everyone again in a couple weeks!
I love you all,
San Diego Democrats for Equality
