Our Friend, Joanne Climie

Dear Democrats for Equality,

With a heavy heart I regret having to let you know that our friend, and former executive board member Joanne Climie has passed away.

Joanne retired as a public school teacher, and was known to many as a fierce advocate for women, public education, and our LGBTQ community.

Not only did Joanne dedicate countless hours in support of our club, she was a recognized activist within our Democratic Party. She had been elected to the County Central Committee, elected as a State Party Delegate, elected as a CADEM Regional Director, and was elected as a National Delegate and attended many DNC conventions over the years.

Joanne loved this club, and was always ready and able to volunteer when she could. Despite falling ill a couple years ago, she made it known about wanting to one day come back and serve on our executive board.

I hope you will join us in keeping Joanne Climie and her immediate family in your thoughts as we remember our friend, and our sister. As soon as we hear details about memorials, we will let you know.

May she rest in power.
