Club Meeting & Endorsements Recap

Democrats for Equality,

We definitely want to thank all of our club members who have been renewing and joining since June. The excitement around the 2018 election cycle has certainly brought some great energy into the club, as evidenced by the long list of folks who have re-upped their commitment to our club’s mission in the last week.

Big THANK YOU and shout out to club member Maureen Steiner and Lambda Archives for hosting last week’s mixer prior to our club meeting and endorsement considerations. We’re definitely in talks about future collaborations and mixers, given that Lambda is celebrating their 30th year soon!

Last week at our club meeting we did have a few contested and non-contested endorsement considerations. Although we were not able to come to a position in the Chula Vista City Council District 2 race, we are proud and excited to announce that we have endorsed the following candidates running for 2018:

These incredible candidates join our previous club endorsements for Dave Myers for County Sheriff, and Kevin Beiser for re-election to San Diego Unified, with plenty more races to weigh in on as we speed into the 2018 Primary and General elections next year.

Also, as mentioned, we’ve announced the opening of our new club office in Hillcrest — right above Uptown Tavern on University Ave. We are also hiring and looking for Field Organizers. If you know of anyone interested, we’ve posted the job description on our website.

Anyone interested in applying can contact club president Will Rodriguez-Kennedy at

Finally, on Sunday, September 10th we will be co-hosting “Picnic with Progressives” in partnership with our friends at the Progressive Democratic Club of San Diego from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at Kate Sessions Park in Pacific Beach. Check out the Facebook event page for more information!

In Solidarity,
