Democrats for Equality,
Last night’s club meeting resulted in our first two endorsements for the 2020 election cycle!
We are proud to have endorsed Council President Georgette Gomez for re-election in Council District 9, and we are excited to announce our endorsement for Todd Gloria to be our next San Diego Mayor!
We want to thank fellow mayoral candidates Barbara Bry and Tasha Williamson for participating and answering some excellent questions put forth by our members about San Diego’s future.
San Diego Democrats for Equality’s endorsement for Todd Gloria stands as a testament to our club’s history and growth.
From the early days of closed meetings inside various living rooms for fear of being outed, to trailblazers like Al Best, Neil Good, Christine Kehoe, and Toni Atkins.
Now, we have the opportunity to elect one of our own as Mayor.
For real this time. Toni Atkins and Todd Gloria have been Mayor before, both times during an unprecedented crisis of leadership at City Hall — and they both thrived.
This time, it’s the people’s decision to elect the next chief executive and leader of our city. It will be up to us to help make the case that Todd Gloria is the right leader for this moment in history.
Let’s tackle the housing crisis head-on. Let’s end homelessness. Let’s build a world-class public transportation system. Let’s address the climate crisis. Let’s ensure public safety in every community by demanding accountability. Let’s provide equitable resources and attention to every neighborhood.
Our club’s motto says it best: our members make history.
